TITLE: Warehouse Worker

REPORTS TO: Warehouse Supervisor
I. BASIC FUNCTION: The Warehouse Worker is responsible for receiving, inspecting shipments and verifies accurate deliveries against purchase orders; inspect for damages, shortages, wrong items and other concerns. The Warehouse Worker loads, unloads, inventory and delivery of District/school supplies, materials and equipment. The Warehouse Worker performs general warehouse duties in the processing and distribution of warehouse stock.
A. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
• Picks up, receives, sorts, stores, distributes and delivers mail, textbooks, forms, standardized tests, materials, furniture, equipment, supplies, cafeteria supplies, etc., as assigned.
• Inspects incoming materials for conformity to Purchase Orders and packing slips. Report shortages and/or damaged items to the appropriate authority. Verifies accurate quantities requested and fill orders/requisitions submitted.
• Operates forklift, electric pallet truck, delivery truck and other warehouse tools and equipment. Loads and unloads trucks and delivery vehicles.
• Operate a computer terminal to maintain a variety of records and reports pertaining to warehouse operations, stock, mail deliveries and regular deliveries.
• Assists in the inventory of warehouse stock and inventory reconciliation.
• Assists in maintaining all records related to warehouse operations (requisitions, shipping invoices, running inventories, purchase orders, deliveries, etc.).
• Assist in maintaining mailroom, warehouse and equipment in a clean, orderly, safe condition to assure safe and proper operation.
• Assist in the coordination and salvage of obsolete district supplies, textbooks and equipment as directed.
• Assists in establishing storekeeping standards, procedures and recommends warehouse modifications and labor requirements.
• Performs related duties as required.
B. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of:
• Modern warehousing and storekeeping procedures including shipping and receiving materials, proper and orderly storage, optimum space utilization and stock inventory procedures.
• Basic stock inventory procedures.
• Basic computer software.
• Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
• Proper methods of lifting.
• Health and safety regulations.
• Basic math skills.
Ability to:
• Read, write and speak at a level sufficient to fulfill representative duties.
• Carry out oral and written directions.
• Learn safety rules and regulations related to warehouse operations and equipment usage, including operation of delivery vehicles and forklift.
• Maintain accurate warehouse and inventory files and records as assigned.
• Perform accurate mathematical calculations using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contracted in performance of required duties.
• Maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
• Safely operate warehouse equipment to include delivery vehicles, office equipment and various forklifts.
• Use technology, machines and/or tools appropriate to the position.
• Lift heavy objects, lifting warehouse stock; reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally; standing for extended period of time; bending at the waist; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate warehouse equipment; climbing ladders and working from heights.
C. QUALIFICATIONS:
• Valid California Class B driver’s license with appropriate endorsement.
• Able to operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
• Forklift Experience (certification desirable).
• High School Graduate or equivalent
D. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• 12 Month position
• Salary schedule placement: Level 18 on the current SEIU Salary Schedule.
• Benefits: Medical, Dental and Vision Benefits are provided by the District in accordance with current agreement between the SEIU and Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District.
